    RALALA is the lake association for Leavitt, Lawrence, Roosevelt and Smokey Hollow lakes, spanning Cass and Crow Wing Counties. Our mission is to work together to maintain water quality in our lakes and the surrounding environment for ourselves and future generations.  That mission has never been more important than it is today. We have serious changes happening in and around our lakes. They are stressed from climate change, from more use, from the escalating danger of invasive species infestation, and from more intense development. All these facts are parts of the world in which we live  -- realities with which we must deal.  As good stewards of our lakes, we also care about the lake communities, our neighbors, and the nearby towns and cities that support the lakes. The lake association has many activities that build on our strengths as a network of caring people. Some RALALA activities include the water patrol, many facets of lakes education, liaison with the DNR (fish stocking), boat inspections at boat launches for aquatic invasive species, and water clarity checks (Secchi Disk monitoring), among others.  Please contact us if you are interested in supporting our efforts.

    LAKE WASHBURN ASSOCIATION

    Lake Washburn Association

    Washburn Lake is located about three miles northwest of the town of Outing in northern Cass County. It covers 1,590 acres, which places it in the upper 10% of lakes in Minnesota in terms of size.  Washburn Lake has three distinct basins: a western basin with a maximum depth of 111 feet, a northern basin with a maximum depth of 90 feet, and an eastern basin with a maximum depth of 25 feet.  Washburn Lake is located near the top of the Pine River Major Watershed. Daggett Brook flows south from Island and George Lakes into the west basin of Washburn Lake and then outlets Washburn Lake at the south end. Flow continues south through Daggett Brook, a series of lakes, and the Pine River that enters the Mississippi River at the south end of the watershed.  Water quality data have been collected on Washburn Lake from 1986-2008. These data show that the lake is mesotrophic (page 9). Mesotrophic Lakes have clear water most of the summer with occasional algae blooms. The mission of Lake Washburn Association is to ensure that the beautiful lake and its environment will survive to be enjoyed by those generations that follow us. The Association has been involved in numerous activities including water quality monitoring, education, Healthy Lakes Initiative, promotion of safety, and is a member of the Association of Cass County Lakes (ACCL).

    Who We Are:

    The Over the Hills Gang Club was created to protect our right to ride on the great trails available to us. We are a dedicated group of around 350 people, of varied ages and from all different areas in Minnesota. We love the Great Northern Minnesota outdoors and the sport of ATV riding. We believe ATV riding is an outdoor, family oriented fun activity. The membership includes a variety of experience levels, interests, and abilities.

     

    The Over The Hills Gang is dedicated to safe, informed, responsible, ATV riding. We love to share the experience and we do everything possible to make a great ATV riding experience available to more people. We want to keep ATV riding available and fun with great trails, information, education and great people.

     

    What We Do:

    We meet at Granny's Bar & Grill on Hwy 6 at 10 a.m. the first Saturday of the month March through October.  There are no meetings the months of November - February.  Check the Club Schedule for dates. Here we discuss the trail issues and plans, future rides, activities, and current events and/or issues effecting ATV riders. We plan, create, and maintain about 74 miles of trails in the Outing area including 26 miles of the Moose River year round ATV Trail. We offer adult and youth ATV Training Classes and other educational activities regarding our sport.
